At our school, we have been very blessed to have parents who are supportive of this whole movement. I wanted to be sure that parents understood that their students were safe online. I also wanted them to know that they could also more easily track their child’s progress through the site as well. Edmodo has MANY wonderful templates that you can adjust for your school. I used a lot of these documents, especially the Student and Parent User Guide. These can be found on the Edmodo Teacher Rollout Page.
When we began the first year with the iPads, we also had a Middle School Parent Open House before the students were able to receive the iPad. There we began with an assembly in which the principal presented the iPad Procedures Keynote, that students would also see. Parents also had to sign the iPad Usage Agreement along with their student. In this they agreed that if an iPad was lost or damaged they would be financially responsible. All parents signed the agreement. Parents then followed an abbreviated version of their student’s schedule to meet teachers and ask questions.
